Matt and I decided to do our long run today.  Met by his house and headed out North to the North Ogden divide road, down to Weber High, back on Pleasent View Dr., and back on Monroe.  Overall it was good even though I didn't get good sleep with it being New Years. Average pace - 7:26.

Easy six miles on the parkway by myself.  Average pace - 8:22.

I met Riley, Ben, Ken, Jon, Bret, and Manny at Smiths and ran a fast 12 miles.  Average pace - 7:17 (7:37, 7:09, 7:19, 7:23, 6:55, 6:59, 7:13, 7:46, 7:40, 6:56, 7:07, & 7:14).

I met Riley, Matt, Ben, & Ken at Smith's and we ran out to 20th street into downtown Ogden.  We ran back on Washington and I turned off around 36th street to head back.  Average pace - 7:38 (7:01, 6:46, 7:36, 7:02, 6:56, 7:13, 7:40, 8:49, & 9:14).

I met Riley, Matt, Ben, Ken, & Jon at the South Ogden Walmart for intervals.  I was way tired from running faster pace the last two days so it didn't go as planned.  I was supposed to run 3x2 mile repeats at a 6:03, but I didn't come close.  1st set 6:06 & 6:12, 2nd set 6:11 & 6:32, and 3rd set was 6:22 & 6:37.  Overall I still felt that I pushed it.

I met Matt, Riley, Ken, and Dave at the Dee for a slow slushy run.  I needed to recover so I just went a slower pace which really just left Matt and I running by ourselves.  Average pace - 8:32

Great on ya. That's always one thing that I have a hard time with is listening to my body on recovery days. I always feel I need to run easier than we normally do.

Agree with Ben, it's good for you to go as slow as your body needs to on recovery days. That's where the real improvements happen.

We do a hard workout and tear down our muscles. During recovery we build those muscles back up and hopefully stronger than before. But that process doesn't happen if we go too fast and don't allow the recovery to take place. Going fast just further tears them down. So true improvement happens on the recovery days.

Everyone is always happy to say nice work after a hard workout. But we should also applaud nice slow, easy recovery runs...So great recovery run!

Well I was going to try and recover again today, but Riley came over and wanted to run to the top of Malan's Peak.  It was slow going, but it was an amazing view at the top.  It's good to get out every once in awhile to explore.

Met Matt at his house today and ran a long easier run.  My legs are dead from this week!  Ran towards south Ogden and looped around there and back.  Average pace - 8:35
